Know what happens before you install.
Do I need an API key?
No. Google sign-in enables 200 built-in AI rewrites. A Groq, Gemini, OpenAI, xAI, or compatible key is optional.
Does ControlG store my writing?
No. Built-in requests are processed transiently by the Azure backend and Azure OpenAI, then discarded. BYOK requests go directly to that provider.
How does activation work?
Checkout gives you a CG-formatted code. Sign in with Google in the app and enter it once to bind Pro to your account.
Does it literally work in every app?
It works in standard editable fields. Secure password fields and some custom editors intentionally block automated reading or replacement.
